Cake Wallet vs Feather vs Monerujo: which Monero wallet should you use?

What all three get right

All three are non-custodial: your keys stay on your device and you can restore the same funds from your seed in another wallet. All three scan the blockchain locally, so your private view key is never sent to a server. That is the main difference from old web wallets such as MyMonero, which closed on 6 January 2026; see Monero web wallets.

By default, each connects to a remote node. The node cannot see your balance, but it can see your IP address and when you broadcast a transaction. For more privacy, connect to your own node or use Tor. Our guide to remote nodes explains how.

Cake Wallet

Cake Wallet is the easiest of the three for beginners and the only one that runs on iPhone. It holds Monero alongside Bitcoin, Litecoin (including MWEB), Ethereum, Zcash and more, and has built-in swaps through several providers. MyMonero named it as its successor in October 2025, and Exodus pointed its Monero users to it when it dropped XMR in August 2025.

Cake supports Ledger devices, including the Flex and Stax over Bluetooth, and added Trezor signing in version 6.2.0 on 5 June 2026. Windows desktop builds are paused during a redesign. Swaps are convenient but carry provider fees and sometimes KYC checks by the swap provider. Full review: Cake Wallet.

Feather

Feather is a lightweight desktop wallet with features normally found only in the command-line wallet: coin control, detailed transaction views and easy node selection. It bundles Tor, runs on Tails, and works with Ledger and Trezor (except the Trezor Safe 7), which makes it a strong choice for larger holdings.

One caution: the latest release we found is 2.8.1 from 14 April 2025. Debian was still packaging it in October 2026, but there has been no newer upstream release in 18 months. Check featherwallet.org for updates, typing the address yourself, and verify the download signature. Full review: Feather Wallet.

Monerujo

Monerujo is a long-running, Monero-only Android wallet available from Google Play, F-Droid and GitHub. It is simple, lets you choose or scan for nodes, works with a Ledger over a USB OTG cable, and has built-in Exolix swaps since SideShift dropped Monero.

The latest GitHub release is v4.1.7 from 17 June 2025, so check that the app is still being updated before relying on it. There is no iPhone version. Full review: Monerujo.

Download safely

Fake wallet apps and lookalike sites are common. Type cakewallet.com, featherwallet.org or monerujo.app yourself or use a bookmark, check the publisher name in app stores, and never enter your seed on a website. Read Monero scams for current patterns.

Which should you choose?

You do not have to pick only one. Many people keep spending money in Cake or Monerujo on their phone and savings in Feather with a hardware wallet.

Frequently asked questions

Is Cake Wallet or Feather better for Monero?

Cake Wallet is better on phones and for beginners, and it holds other coins. Feather is better on desktop for advanced control, bundled Tor and hardware wallet use.

Is Monerujo available on iPhone?

No. Monerujo is Android only. On iPhone, Cake Wallet is the most widely used Monero wallet.

Can I move my wallet between Cake, Feather and Monerujo?

Yes, by restoring from your seed. All three accept the 25-word Monero seed. Polyseed 16-word seeds work in Cake and Feather.

Do these wallets send my view key to a server?

No. All three scan the blockchain on your device and only download data from a node. The node can see your IP address unless you use Tor or your own node.
